Thailand is hot. My students will tell you that is not an acceptable sentence; it needs to be stretched so the reader has a better picture in their head.
The air in Thailand feels as hot as the inside of an oven being used to bake a pizza.
I hope that gives you a better feel for the tenperature! Thailand is similar to Bermuda in that both places are very humid. The other volunteers have mentioned the humidity but it hasn't been a real issue for me. The heat on the other hand... I thought I knew what hot felt like, but this makes a hot August day in Bermuda seem like a walk in the park.
I knew it was going to be hot. I packed with that piece of information in mind. In the photo below you'll see in the left hand grid items I purchased in preparation for this trip. I think my favourite find was the Palmer's cooling lotion that I bought from People's Pharmacy. Another great find was Dettol cool soap - the cleaning power of Dettol with a cool touch? Winner, winner, chicken dinner! 🎉
Now on the right side is the powder provided by my hosts at the CCS Home Base here in Bangkok. This stuff is incredible! I've taken to sprinkling it on my back before I head out each day. Who cares if I go to school looking like a powder puff if it keeps me cool?! I don't.
I will be finding this stuff in a store so I can bring my own bottle home. Thailand for the win. Sorry, Gold Bond!
